I know there's been a lot of cat traffic on this list lately. However, this time it's me who has the kittens! My neighbor discovered a litter of kittens in my back yard while I was on vacation. I trapped them all, as well as the momma kitty and another adult male cat. I got the two adults spayed and neutered. The kittens look to be about 8 weeks. My neighbor and I (and Mike) are socializing them and want to adopt them out. There are two tiger stripped ones, a black one, and a grey one. Mike has taken some very nice pictures which may be viewed here:

It will still be at least a week or two before they are socialized enough for new homes. If you, or anyone you know is interested in any of them, please let me know. I am willing to driving to pretty much anywhere in California (Northern/Bay Area or Southern) or Vegas.

It's important that these kittens find very caring, loving, and understanding homes. How friendly each one is will depend on each one's personality. They may be no different than kittens born inside a home, or they may be more timid. They should probably not go to homes with young children. It would also be ideal, although not necessary, if the homes had other socialable cats, so that they can learn by example how to be loving with people.

I would like the prospective families to understand that these kittens are very special and are going through a taming process before being placed. Some good info on the process is listed on the following website for those who are curious:

There are many other articles out there, but this one talks about "Homing Tamed Kittens" about half-way down the page. You could skip down to just reading that section.

I caught one of the kittens Monday and the other three on Tuesday. The first one I trapped is already very playful and pretty comfortable in my presence. I expect there to be significant progress over the next week or two.

Again, please let me know if you're interested and please spread the word. These kittens really are adorable and need understanding homes.
